Spare time fun

When apple thinning times were over we left lowely Kelowna and find our new temporary home near small town Penticton, where is Skaha-great climbing area. Penticton lies between two lakes- Okanagan and Skaha. Our friend Eva is working there in outdoor shop so we were hanging around with her when she had a day off.

We had ten days in between apples and cherries, so we enjoyed our free time as much as possible. We bought a climbing guide, which Kuba loves from the very first time :-) We found out that Skaha is ful of animals. Some of them are cute some of them are not. Cute ones are chipmunks, marmots, many birds and we were lucky and saw an elk. Less cute are poison snakes such a rattle snake and some other five kinds. Kuba is lucky about animals snd he saw a rattle snake twice. I touched a frog when I was climbing! It was in one hole I put my figers in. A many sware words came out.:-)

Being on the road is for sure different than park in the orchard and have a kitchen and shower around the corner. But we solve this problem. During the day is very hot in Skaha so we were swimming in the lake. If you want a wash your hair you have to be patient and find an ankle in which you can fit your head in between the tap and the sink in public wasroom. During the day we were cooking in the park beside the lake and nights spent at Walmart´s parking lot. Funny thing is that if you don´t have a fridge you can actually pouring you butter onto the bread. Don´t have to use a knife. Pretty handy. :-)

Our climbing days were full of exploration, the area is so huge that we were climb every day in different sector. There´s over a thousand routes bolted and there is a huge potential still. I started to lead routes till 5.10b and Kuba tried many of 5.12a. We´d love to come back to have more climbing again but there´s many other places where we wanna ggo. Canada is just so huge. :-)

Like I mentioned Eva´s working in outdoor shop so she managed a renting a paddle board for one day for us. We never did it before. Firstable we went to give a try in pretty wavy Okanagan lake and we tried our first stand ups and falls. After that we swap to Skaha lake and the water level was like a mirror, so we were like a pros there :-)

Our short vacation were over and we hit the road again and we were ridding to Oyama, where is our new home now.
